The 2024/25 EA Sports FC competitive season has officially begun. FC Pro Open 25 is the first tournament for some of the best EA Sports FC 25 in the world to compete and hope to qualify for the annual FC Pro World Championship which will be held next year.
Some familiar names in the competitive scene also take part in FC Pro Open 25, meanwhile some new faces will also use this tournament to make a name for themselves. Want to know which players that you should keep your eyes into throughout the tournament? We will cover some of them in this article!
Jafonso (Al-Nassr)
One of the biggest favorites in this tournament is João Vasconcelos, or simply known as Jafonso. The Portuguese player recently joined Al-Nassr Esports after a stellar performance in the 2023/24 season, capped off by winning the Esports World Cup 2024.
The #1 ranked player in the world is currently leading group A with 12 points by winning 4 matches and only losing one. Ahead by 3 points to his closest competitor, Jafonso currently also has +12 goal difference, making him the clear favorite to top group A and advancing to quarterfinals and securing a spot in FC Pro 25 World Championship.
Vejrgang (RBLZ Gaming)
The Danish wonderkid Anders Vejrgang took the eyes of the world when he was just 15 years old. He once had an unbeaten streak of 535-0 in FUT Champions which led him to be signed by RBLZ Gaming in 2021 and officially entered the competitive scene a year later.
Vejrgang is no stranger to winning major tournaments despite only having 2 years of professional career so far. He brought RBLZ Gaming to victory in FIFAe Club World Cup 2023, and is currently the reigning world champion after winning the FC Pro 24 World Championship.
PHzin (AlUla FC)
Another favorite player to win FC Pro Open 25 is Paulo Henrique Chaves, also known as PHzin. The Brazilian started his professional career in his home soil by joining R10 Team which was founded by Ronaldinho, before moving to Ajax Esports, and now competing for Saudi based team AlUla FC.
PHzin is also the reigning champion of FC Pro Open, having won the tournament in February 2024. After reaching the semifinal of Esports World Cup 2024, PHzin is looking forward not only to retain his FC Pro Open title, but also bringing the first esports trophy for AlUla FC.
Tekkz (Manchester City Esports)
Before Anders Vejrgang, the title of wonderkid in the FIFA competitive scene belonged to Donovan “Tekkz” Hunt. At the age of just 17, Tekkz won his first major trophy by winning FUT 18 Champions Cup Finals in Barcelona which landed him his first professional contract with the F2.
He then moved to Fnatic which made him one of the most well-known FIFA players in the world, before joining Manchester City Esports in 2023. Tekkz alongside his teammate Matias won the ePremier League 2024, earning him his first trophy for the Manchester based team.
Yuval (Gaimin Gladiator)
The Israeli Yuval Blizovsky is one of the dark horses in this tournament. His rise in the competitive scene started in the 2023/24 competitive season. He won the eLiga Portugal 2024 and came close at the FC Pro 24 World Championship, after losing to Vejrgang in the finals.
His performance immediately put his name on the map, and secured a move to Gaimin Gladiators in the summer of 2024. He’s also very interesting to watch because his performance links to Sacha Boey FC Pro items in FUT 25, which is available to get through SBC.
