On Monday night, the EA FC 24 Pro Open Match Week Five saw Group A return to action after their first meeting on 27 November 2023. Match Week Five witnessed exciting matches and very tense moments as Emre Yilmaz, Umut, Lukas, Mark11 and H1dalgo locked horns in the UK.
All the players had faced each other once and were meeting for the last time to determine who advances to the knockout round of the global competition that kicked off in November 2023. Emre Yilmaz and Umut, who were on top of the standings after Match Week One, maintained their spots to become the first players in the tournament to make it through to the knockouts.
Highlights from Match Week Five
Monday’s event started with action between Mark11 and H1dalgo, which ended in victory for the Spaniard who badly wanted to reduce the gap between himself and the top two players in the group. Unfortunately for him, Emre Yilmaz secured a 3-0 win over Lukas in another fixture played at the same time, making his next game against Umut a must-win.

Facing Umut, H1dalgo had everything at stake as a win for the the RBLZ Gaming star would all but seal his place in the knockout stages. H1dalgo started the game well but a late rally by Umut saw him suffer a 4-1 defeat. Thence, qualification places were already sealed and the remaining fixtures were only to determine who will finish top of the group and who will make it to the top four.
Mark11, who was winless in Match Week One, earned his first three points when he beat Lukas 3-2, thanks to a late set-piece goal from Virgil van Dijk.
Lukas returned to winning ways in the next round when he thumped H1dalgo 5-2. In another fixture, Umut beat Emre Yilmaz 4-2 to boost his chances of topping the table.

More drama followed in the final round where Emre Yilmaz stunned H1dalgo with a 6-2 win and Mark11 ended a disappointing campaign with a narrow win over Umut.
