FC Pro Open: Match Week Eight as it Happened

With just two places remaining for the FC Pro Quarter Finals, there was certainly everything to play for as Match Week Eight got underway in London. It was the final night in this year’s FC Pro Open Group Stages and just as many had expected, it didn’t disappoint.

Levi de Weerd and Obrun made it to the quarters, but the man who stole the show was Tekkz. The Manchester City star was in dazzling form securing victories with large margins to turn his misfortunes from Match Week Four around. In the end, he was just one goal away from advancing to the next stage and producing one of the greatest comebacks.

How Things Unfolded on Match Week Eight

Match Week Eight began with Tekkz facing The1OS and group leader Levi de Weerd battling it out against Fouma. In a shocking turn of events, Tekkz demolished The1OS 9-0 to overturn his -8 goal difference and begin his chase for a top two finish. Levi, on the other hand, made a big step towards reaching the Finals by thrashing his closest rival 6-2.

Levi eventually booked his spot in the Finals in the next round after edging out Obrun 5-4. The biggest match of the evening would follow afterwards as Tekkz and Obrun faced off in what could decide whether the Man City star advances or not.

He took an early lead but Obrun turned the game around to lead 3-1 midway through the second half. With his hopes of qualifying to the Finals in jeopardy, Tekkz manged to score the equalizer in the 90th minute to earn a point after initially reducing the deficit to one in the 65th minute. Unfortunately for him, the draw wasn’t enough and his dreams of advancing past the Group Stage was over.

The game that eventually decided who joins Levi in the Finals followed as Obrun and Fouma battled it out. It was a very tight contest that ended with Obrun securing a victory that he will remember as perhaps the best gift for his 22nd birthday.
