EURO 2024 Update Announced for FC 24: What To Expect

The UEFA Euro 2024 tournament is officially coming to EA SPORTS FC 24.

In a renewed partnership with UEFA, the gaming company will include the prominent Euro tournament in their football franchise for the first time since 2012. The announcement of the Euro 2024’s inclusion was hinted at after a recent leak, and now EA has confirmed it through a trailer, unveiling the first details of this special downloadable content (DLC).

When will the Euro 2024 Update be released in FC 24?

According to UEFA, the update will be released next summer, in early June 2024, ahead of the tournament kick-off on 14 June in Germany.

The DLC will arrive at no extra costs in FC 24 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Furthermore, the update will also drop on EA SPORTS FC Mobile and EA SPORTS FC Online.

Euro 2024 Ultimate Team Engagement Campaign

To celebrate this release, EA has announced a special Euro 2024 Ultimate Team engagement campaign. Players who play FC 24 before January 16, 2024, will receive an exclusive, non-tradable Ultimate Team item featuring one of the tournament’s star players:

  • Jack Grealish (England)
  • Ousmane Dembélé (France)
  • Federico Chiesa (Italy)
  • Florian Wirtz (Germany)
  • Virgil Van Djik (Netherlands)
  • Álvaro Morata (Spain)

While the specific player ratings are yet to be disclosed, these items are expected to have a slight boost compared to their regular base cards

This initiative mirrors EA Sports’ recent strategy, which included giving away an 87-rated Erling Haaland item to players who were active in the game before November 1st.

What To Expect From Euro 2024 DLC?

The Euro 2024 DLC promises to bring an immersive and authentic experience of the tournament in “the world’s game,” allowing players to guide their favorite national teams towards European triumph.

Based on EA’s approach to previous DLC releases, players can likely anticipate a dedicated game mode tailored for both offline and online play in FC 24. Additionally, Ultimate Team is set to include special promotions related to the tournament, as exemplified by the recently announced Euro 2024 Ultimate Team engagement campaign.

Regarding the teams featured in the DLC, the next qualified national teams are expected to be included:

  1. Germany
  2. France
  3. Belgium
  4. Portugal
  5. Spain
  6. Scotland
  7. Türkiye (Not in FC 24)

Furthermore, the free update is set to include most of the official host venues. Out of the eight confirmed stadiums, the following are already available in FC 24:

  • Deutsche Bank Park (Frankfurt)
  • MHPArena (Stuttgart)
  • Red Bull Arena (Leipzig)
  • RheinEnergieStadion (Koln)
  • Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund)
  • Merkur Spiel-Arena (Düsseldorf)

  • Volksparkstadion (Hamburg)

The only missing venue is Allianz Arena in Munich. This stadium is exclusively featured in Konami’s eFootball series, and there’s no official confirmation yet whether it will be included in EA’s Euro 2024 DLC package.

In addition to the stadiums, the DLC is likely to feature other authentic tournament elements such as the official match ball, stadium dressing, adboards, and the trophy. Hopefully, with this occasion, EA will also reintroduce the team lineups and national anthems in FC 24.

eEuro 2024 Tournament

For esports enthusiasts and professional players, EA and UEFA confirmed the eEURO esports programme that will make its debut in the competitive scene next year. The new tournament will feature Europe’s best EA SPORTS FC players representing UEFA national teams.

The inaugural eEuro 2024 marks the beginning of what is planned to be an annual esports tournament. It will include qualification phases leading up to a live final, scheduled for the summer of 2024. This format promises to deliver a competitive and engaging experience, showcasing the skills of Europe’s elite EA SPORTS FC players.
