Football Manager 25: Big Changes and New Features Announced

Sports Interactive have shared details about what’s coming in Football Manager 25.

With a mix of exciting new features, important changes, and some significant removals, FM25 is shaping up to be a landmark release. Alongside the gameplay updates, the game has secured a new partnership with the Premier League and recently celebrated reaching 10 million active players. Furthermore, the developers announced the first-ever World Cup of Football Manager in collaboration with FIFAe.

Some of the new features have already been revealed, but for the sake of this new announcement from Sports Interactive we will present them again.

FM25 New Features

One of the biggest changes in FM25 is the switch to the Unity engine. This is the most significant tech update in over 20 years and promises to deliver better graphics and faster updates. This move will provide a more realistic and immersive experience, with enhanced visuals and smoother gameplay.

For the UI, the game is getting a complete makeover with a new “tile and card” system. This change aims to make it easier for players to navigate and find information. The traditional Inbox is being replaced by a new “Portal” offering a modern way to manage everything happening in your football world. The Portal will display your Agenda, Messages, News, and Matches all in one place.

FM25 will also feature women’s football, with multiple licenses secured. Players can manage both men’s and women’s teams seamlessly in one game. This is a significant step towards inclusivity and realism in the game.

Features Being Removed in FM25

To streamline the game and improve the overall experience, several features are being removed in FM25:

  • Touchline Shouts: Removed due to functionality issues and confusion among players.
  • Social Media Screen and Data Chalkboard: These are being taken out to simplify the user interface. Key information will still be available in other parts of the game.
  • Create-A-Club: This popular mode won’t be available at launch but will return improved in FM26.
  • Versus Mode: Being redesigned and might come back in a new form.
  • Challenge Mode: Set to return in either FM26 or 27 with a complete overhaul.
  • Fantasy Draft: Not available on day one but will come back later with a major update.

FM25 Release Date

Football Manager 25’s release date will be announced in early September, with pre-orders opening at the same time. New gameplay features will be revealed shortly after, giving players plenty to look forward to. Additionally, FMFC members will get a chance to test the new UI/UX at the studio in London from September to early October.

Lastly, the Football Manager Podcast is making a comeback, featuring interviews, stories from the professional game, and more insights into the Football Manager series.

Football Manager 25 will be available on PC and Mac, as well as on consoles for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. More news about Football Manager 25 Touch and Football Manager 25 Mobile will be shared later in the cycle.
