With EA SPORTS FC 25 just around the corner, the competitive scene is already gearing up for another exciting year. Following the success of last season, which saw Vejrgang of RBLZ Gaming take the crown as the first-ever FC Pro World Champion, the FC Pro circuit is set for a strong second season.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming in the world of FC Pro and how this season is shaping up.
What’s New for FC Pro 25?
EA SPORTS isn’t overhauling the format but is focusing on refinement. The key changes for this season have been informed by player feedback. The most significant addition is the inclusion of more pathways to the FC Pro World Championship. Specifically, players who missed out on progressing through the FC Pro Open will now have the chance to make a comeback through additional Open Cups.
In total, the season’s prize pool remains at a hefty $1,000,000, split across various events, including the FC Pro Open, Global Qualifiers, and Cups.
The FC Pro Open
The FC Pro Open returns, kicking off the season as the main stage for competitive players around the globe. The competition will begin with the FC Pro Open Ladder, where registered players will fight for a spot in their regional qualifiers. Those who make it through the online stages will have the chance to compete in person at the first major event of the year—the FC Pro Open Global Qualifier.
This year, the FC Pro Open will feature 24 players, up from last season. Veteran players like PHzin, Vejrgang, Emre Yilmaz, and Levi de Weerd have already secured their spots thanks to their top finishes last season.
How to Compete
If you’re aspiring to compete, registration opens in September at fcpro.com. To qualify for the FC Pro Open, players must reach Division 3 in Ultimate Team Rivals on PlayStation 5. Once they reach this rank, they can enter the FC Pro Open Ladder, running from October 1st to October 7th, 2024. Success in this ladder is the first step toward earning a spot in the Regional Qualifiers and, eventually, the Global Qualifier.
Key Dates
Here’s a quick rundown of the important dates for the new FC Pro Open season:
- FC Pro Open Ladder: October 1-7, 2024
- Regional Qualifiers: October 12-13, 2024
- Global Qualifier: November 1-3, 2024
- FC Pro Open Group Stage: Weekly starting November 25, 2024, through January 27, 2025
- FC Pro Open Finals: February 1-2, 2025
During the group stages, 24 competitors will battle it out across eight weeks of matches. At the end of the group stages, the top performers will move on to the final rounds, where they’ll fight for a place in the World Championship.
FC Pro Open Cups
Responding to feedback from last season, EA SPORTS has introduced more competitive opportunities through the FC Pro Open Cups. There will be additional cups in November, December, and January, with top performers earning points toward the FC Pro World Championship Play-Ins. This provides another route for players who didn’t qualify through the main events.
2025 FC Pro World Championship
The season culminates in the FC Pro World Championship, where the best players from across the globe will compete for the title and a share of the $1,000,000 prize pool. The Championship will begin with the Play-Ins, where 28 players from the Open Cups and around 20 players from various FC Pro Leagues will compete for a final spot in the main event.
The top eight players from the FC Pro Open will join the 20 league competitors and four Play-In winners to fight for the ultimate prize.
As the new season kicks off, there’s plenty to look forward to. More detailed information will be available as the season progresses on the official FC Pro website, especially regarding the path to the World Championship through the various FC Pro League programs.
