Gianni Infantino Teases FIFA 25: ‘Get Ready’

FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, recently provided an update on the development of a new video game by the world football governing body. Following the end of its longstanding partnership with EA Sports, Infantino insists that the new game will surpass all expectations.

The dissolution of the FIFA-EA Sports partnership marked the end of an era that began in 1993. EA Sports released EA Sports FC 24 last year as the successor to the iconic FIFA series, following the breakdown of negotiations in 2022. Despite this split, FIFA has been actively working on developing a “major new simulation football title for 2024”.

Gianni Infantino’s Vision for FIFA 25

Speaking at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Infantino was optimistic about the future. “We will develop a new e-game, because the football simulation game is called FIFA for hundreds of millions of children around the world,” he stated. “When they play a football simulation game, they play FIFA, it cannot be named something else.”

Despite the promising words from Infantino, details about the new game remain vague. The first hints about FIFA’s new game came through a survey conducted earlier this year, asking gamers what they want in a football simulator.

Potential Partnership with 2K Games

The FIFA president emphasized the development of new partnerships to create a new game, but did not specify a developer or a timeline. “We are developing new partners and a new game which, obviously as everything we do, will be the best. So get ready for the new FIFA game.”

There have been rumors about a potential partnership with 2K to create the new game, suggesting that FIFA is actively seeking the right collaborator to bring their vision to life.

The Challenge Ahead

Shortly after the announcement of the split back in 2022, Infantino assured that the new FIFA game will be the best on the market. “I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans,” he declared. “The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25, and FIFA 26 and so on — the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain the best.”

As FIFA ventures into this new chapter, the organization faces the challenge of building a game from scratch, which could be a lengthy process. Infantino’s references to future titles like FIFA 25 and beyond hint at the organization’s long-term commitment to remaining a major player in the gaming world. However, the need for swift action is crucial to ensure that players do not lose interest.
