FC Pro Open: Match Week Six Round-Up

After a thrilling encounter on Match Week Two, Group B was back at it again on Monday night in London. There was more drama on Match Week Six, just as many had expected since the group that had some of the finest pro gamers.
PHzin was leading after the first round of matches and he came into Match Week Six with a three point advantage over Young and Happy.

After a disappointing campaign on Match Week Two, eLaLiga champion Bonanno was hoping that he could turn things around on Monday night and qualify for the knockout stages. However, things didn’t work out for him as well as FacuCowen and Happy. In the end, it was PHzin and Young who joined Group A‘s Emre Yilmaz and Umut in FC Pro Quarter Finals.

Match Week Six Highlights

The action got underway on Monday night with Young taking on Happy in one of the matches that could determine the final standings in Group B. Both players started the game well before Young ran riot and thrashed his Mexican opponent 6-1. In another round six match, Bonanno failed to win the game that could determine if he had a chance in proceeding to the knockouts, losing 4-3 to FacuCowen.

PHzin finally had his chance in round seven, facing fellow Brazilian Young, who had just secured a massive win in his previous match. Young scored two quick goals but PHzin remained cool and managed to equalize before the break and then take full control of the match. With the second half wearing out, it seemed as if PHzin was going to secure a comfortable victory in his first match of the night. However, Young rallied back when losing with a huge margin to earn a point with the game ending 6-6. Elsewhere, FacuCowen and Happy drew 2-2.

In Round eight, FacuCowen stunned PHzin with a 4-0 victory, adding more pressure on the Brazilian who was leading the group ahead of Monday’s action. Meanwhile Bonanno once again failed to record victory as he suffered a 6-5 loss to Happy. At this point, Bonanno had nothing to fight for, except for his reputation as one of the top gamers.

FacuCowen continued with his dominance by securing a crucial 3-2 victory over Young in his final game of the night. PHzin returned to winning ways in another round nine fixture beating Bonanno 6-5. In the final round, the Brazilian sensation beat Happy 7-6 while his compatriot Young defeated Bonanno 6-3.

As already mentioned, PHzin and Young are the ones who qualified for the FC Pro Open Quarter Finals from Group B. PHzin topped the group with 17 points, three above second placed Young. FacuCowen also had 14 points but it was Young who advanced because he scored more goals.
