EA Sports FC 25 is set to launch a paid season pass for its popular game modes, including Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Clubs. This new Premium Pass will be available for purchase using both FC Points and Ultimate Team Coins, offering additional rewards and customization options.
Introducing the Premium Pass
For the first time, EA Sports FC 25 will feature a paid season pass alongside the traditional free season pass. This Premium Tier will provide players with packs, players, and various cosmetic customization items. According to Karthik Venkateshan, a producer on Ultimate Team, the free tier will remain as it is, while the Premium Pass adds extra rewards that can be earned concurrently with the free season pass rewards.
Purchasing and Rewards
The Premium Pass can be bought with either FC Points, the game’s paid currency, or Ultimate Team Coins, which can be earned through gameplay. Richard Waltz, Game Design Director for Ultimate Team, assured players that there will be no exclusive rewards in the paid tier that can’t be earned in the free tier.
This means that all players, regardless of whether they purchase the Premium Pass, will have access to the same rewards, although those with the pass will unlock them faster.
Community Reactions
The announcement of the Premium Pass has sparked a mix of excitement and concern among the community. While some players appreciate the additional rewards and customization options, others worry about the impact of monetization on the gaming experience.
EA’s decision to allow the Premium Pass to be purchasable with in-game currency aims to address these concerns, but the reception will largely depend on the implementation and perceived fairness of the system.
EA SPORTS FC 25 will be released worldwide on September 27, 2024 and will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
