FC 25 Career Mode: What’s New?

The final Deep Dive for FC 25 has dropped, and it’s all about the most iconic game mode in the series, Career Mode.

With a dedicated trailer racking up over a million views in under 24 hours, the Career Mode Deep Dive reveals a treasure trove of new features and changes. And oh boy, there are quite a few! It’s been a hot minute since EA put this much love into Career Mode, especially since Ultimate Team has been their priority for obvious reasons.

So, buckle up as we take a comprehensive look at what’s new and improved in FC 25 Career Mode.

Live Start Points

The first major addition to FC 25 Career Mode is the “Live Start Points.” This feature allows players to start their Manager and Player Career modes from any gameweek in the 2024/2025 season, reflecting real-world data such as points totals, goals scored, transfers, player form, injuries, and suspensions. Key details include:

  • Real-world integration: Start your career mode reflecting real-world results and statistics.
  • Snapshots: Jump into pivotal moments like manager sackings or big transfers.
  • Regular updates: New gameweeks and snapshots will be released regularly.
  • Leagues and Cups: Available in 10 leagues and 12 cup competitions across both men and women’s football.

Pease note that this feature will be available post-release via a Title Update.

Women’s Career Mode

In a first for any football game, FC 25 introduces the ability to manage women’s teams in Career Mode and even play as one in Player Career. This includes unique challenges and features specific to women’s football:

  • Five Licensed Leagues: Play in the Barclays Women’s Super League, Arkema Première Ligue, Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga, Liga F, and the National Women’s Soccer League.
  • Authentic management: Realistic financial models, contracts, and wage structures.
  • Women’s Player Career: Featuring authentic contracts, salaries, and event systems reflecting the women’s game.
  • Easy Switch: You can easily switch between men and women teams in the same manager save.

FC IQ System

The FC IQ system brings significant improvements to tactical setups and matchday experience. Key features of FC IQ in Career Mode include:

  • Tactical Presets: Defined by key roles, with formation impacting the preset requirements.
  • Player Roles: Assign roles like Deep Lying Playmaker or Holding to fit your tactical style.
  • Role Familiarity: Coaches can improve player roles based on their tactical knowledge.
  • Scouting Enhancements: Search for players based on specific roles or tactical presets.

Development Plans 2.0

Development Plans have been overhauled to focus on Player Roles and their growth potential. Key improvements include:

  • Role Growth: Development plans now focus on key attributes for each role.
  • Growth stages: Players’ growth stages (Growth, Peak, or Retiring) influence their development.
  • Contextual information: Provides insights on factors affecting player growth.

Youth Academy Overhaul

The Youth Academy system in FC 25 has received significant upgrades, offering more depth and control over player development:

  • Expanded Scouting: Scout in over 160 countries with specific search options for roles and positions. You can also scout for 14-year-old players now!
  • Rush Matches: Engage in 5v5 tournaments with youth players to accelerate their development.
  • Realistic Appearances: Youth players will look younger and grow physically over time thanks to EA Cranium Tech.

Customization and More Settings

FC 25 introduces several customization options and settings:

  • Avatar Customization: Enhanced face customization with Cranium Technology, tattoos, accessories, and more.
  • Gameplay Settings: Toggle between Realistic, Classic, and Custom gameplay settings.
  • Flexible Settings: Modify match and gameplay simulation settings mid-save, and apply various difficulty adjustments for a tailored career challenge.

New Menu UI and Social Media Hub

A revamped UI will be available in FC 25 Career Mode and will feature the following changes:

  • New Menu: The Career Mode UI received an aesthetic upgrade with a focus on functionality.
  • Task List: Dynamic rundown of pending actions, making squad management and other activities more streamlined.
  • Social Media Integration: Stay updated with news about achievements, match results, transfers, and more, featuring posts from clubs, leagues, players, and media outlets like Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic.

Player Career with Icons and Origin Stories

FC 25 enhances Player Career mode with new features:

  • Play with ICONs: Dive into Player Career with some of football’s greatest icons, experiencing the game with legends at their peak.
  • Origin Stories: Choose from three unique paths—child prodigy, humble beginnings, or comeback from injury—or create your own custom start.

While all these new changes are super exciting, we’ll have to wait until September to check them out. And let’s be real, we’re all hoping they don’t come with the usual share of bugs. EA has a bit of a reputation for rolling out new features without thoroughly testing them, so fingers crossed this time they get it right!

Don’t forget that currently the FC 25 Closed Beta is in full swing and if you are lucky enough you can get your own beta code by following our guide.

FC 25 will release worldwide on September 27, 2024, and will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
