The Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) were introduced to FIFA / FC series in FIFA 17 and have been a staple in the series ever since. SBCs give players a chance to trade in player items that they do not need to get various rewards in return – usually Packs, Player Picks or boosted Player items.
From a novel idea in FIFA 17 to the single biggest menu grinding entity in EA FC 24, it is safe to say that SBCs have evolved over the years. We now have foundation SBCs that helps us to build a starter squad, weekly Marquee Matchups, Player of the Month SBCs, Icon SBCs, upgrade SBCs and a whole lot of other SBCs that play an integral part in building squads in Ultimate Team.
While there are a plethora of active SBCs in FC 24 at the moment for the players to complete, some of them are not good value. However, there are some SBCs that are objectively worth doing and in our opinion, you do not want to miss out on completing these SBCs. In this post, we will check out five of the must-do SBCs at the moment in EA FC 24.
#5. Max 87 Icon Upgrade – Expiry: November 12, 2023
Icons received a major buff in EA FC 24 compared to FIFA 23. For starters, Icon links are much more powerful in FC 24. Almost every outfield Icons in this game has a PlayStyle+, which means these icons will play above what their stats suggest.
In addition to this, the Max 87 Icon Upgrade SBC only cost 84 and 85 rated squads. You may end up packing David Trezeguet, but that’s a risk you should be willing to take if you want to pack Fernando Torres, Michael Essien, or Gianluca Zambrotta.

#4. Laurent Blanc – Expiry: December 8, 2023
It is still hard to believe that EA released a top tier Icon CB in October for a relatively cheap price. Admittedly, the SBC costs around 500K coins, which is a huge sum for most players. However, Blanc is nothing short of an elite CB in EA FC 24.
He has the best defensive playstyle+ (Anticipate+), is tall, has brilliant stats, and on top of all – Icon links. In our opinion, he will be more than useful at least until TOTY is released. You still have around a month to complete this SBC.

#3. Centurions Crafting Upgrade – Expiry: November 27, 2023
Upgrade SBCs are crucial for squad building and getting some high rated fodders in FC 24 Ultimate. You can also throw in your lower rated duplicate untradable items into these SBCs for a chance to get something good in return. It may not even be an exaggeration when we say that every Ultimate Team player waits for content time on Monday to know what upgrade SBCs EA is going to drop.
To celebrate the Centurions promo, EA has released Centurions Crafting Upgrade on October 30th, 2023, that can be completed 100 times. While it may seem like a slightly enhanced Gold Upgrade SBC, it is much more than that. For starters, it returns 50% more players than that of a Gold Upgrade for the same cost.
Moreover, if you complete the SBC 100 times, you will get Centurions Crafting Upgrade Completionist Milestone rewards, in addition to the hundred 3x Rare Gold Players Packs. These rewards include a Jumbo Rare Players Pack, 80+ x10 Rare Players Pack, 84+ x2 Rare Players Pack, and much more. The only downside is that completing this SBC 100 times may be a huge grind for some players.

#2. Centurions Thiago Silva – Expiry: November 22, 2023
Anticipate+, great links, 80 pace, elite tier defending and excellent playstyles – it is tough to comprehend that EA has released this card for a cost of around 150K coins. If this card were released in packs, it is safe to assume that this card would not cost anything less than 400K coins.
If you can fit him in, you should consider doing this SBC as Centurions Thiago Silva will be one of the best centre backs you are going to use for a very long time.

#1. Advanced Foundation SBCs – Expiry: No Expiry
It does not matter if you have just started your Ultimate Team journey or have been playing since September 22, if you have not completed these SBCs, you should complete them as soon as possible.
There are three SBC groups that you should complete – Hybrid Leagues, Hybrid Nations, and Hybrid Leagues and Nations. These SBCs cost around 70K coins but offer 15 high value packs in return. You could use these packs to build your team or do some SBCs.
