The brand-new Grassroot Great campaign will officially end today (21/2). Coming in as a never before seen promo, Grassroot Greats is based on footballers who started their journey from the lower tiers of footballing pyramids to the heights of playing professional football.
Despite lasting only a week, the campaign received a positive response from the community. From the return of a footballing greats to daily SBCs and EVOs, these are some reasons why Grassroot Greats is one of the best promo in EA Sports FC 25 to date!
The return of Diego Armando Maradona
Diego Maradona was previosly featured on the FIFA franchise from FIFA 18 to FIFA 22. However, after a third party legal dispute, the Argentine great was removed from the game at the end of the FIFA 22 cycle.
After nearly three years away from the ICON roster, Maradona made his long-awaited return to the EA Sports franchise during the Grassroot Greats promo. The news sparked excitement within the community, with many eagerly anticipating the Grassroot Greats promo even before it began.
A free and EVO-able Maradona item for everyone
To celebrate the return of Diego Maradona to the game, EA Sports let every Ultimate Team player to have a free and upgradeable Maradona player item. Similar to free Zidane during Team of the Year campaign that EA Sports give to everyone, this gesture by EA Sports let Ultimate Team players to add another footballing great to their squads.
A 77-rated Maradona player item was gifted to Ultimate Team players, which can be upgraded to an 89-rated item for free. For those looking to upgrade Maradona even further, a paid EVO option is available to boost him to an 89-rated item.
Grassroot Great players get extra chemistry boost
The players released as part of the Grassroot Greats campaign come with a special perk. They receive extra chemistry boosts for their nations, leagues, and clubs, which make them automatically gain 2/3 of the chemistry points if they’re being played in the correct position.
This makes Grassroot Greats players easy to link and allows them to fit seamlessly into almost any team. The extra chemistry boosts also apply to every Evolution released during the promo.
Daily EVOs during the promo
Ever since the campaign began on Friday (14/2) last week, EA Sports has released a new Evolution every day. It allows players to upgrade their squad significantly, as EA Sports has also raised the maximum overall rating for some of the Evolutions.
Despite few Evolutions receiving criticism from the community, there are also some of fan-favorited ones. A Star is Born, Complete Winger, Just Like Jamie, and Backline Boss are among the Evolutions that have been met with a positive response from players
