The road to the eFootball Championship 2025 World Finals has officially begun! Starting today, January 30, players from around the world can test their skills in the eFootball Championship 2025 Open, the largest official esports competition for the eFootball series. Open to all players, this global tournament serves as the first step toward competing at the highest level, culminating in the World Finals this summer in Tokyo.
Competition Categories & Platforms
The eFootball Championship Open is split into two major categories:
- Console Category: Includes PlayStation (PS4/PS5), Xbox (Series X|S, One, Windows), and Steam. However, from the Regional Finals onward, all matches will be played on PlayStation.
- Mobile Category: Unified competition for iOS and Android users.
The official tournament mode is Dream Team, meaning players will need to build and manage their squads strategically to progress.
Last year we saw Rentao took home the Mobile category title while in the Console category, Mayageka defeated Ax 3-1 in an all-Japanese final.
Competition Format & Qualifiers
This season introduces two online qualifier rounds, allowing players more opportunities to secure a spot in the Regional Finals and eventually the World Finals. The structure follows a three-round format in each qualifier:
- Round 1 – Challenge Event: Compete in special in-game events to progress.
- Round 2 – Ranking Event: Players are ranked based on performance, with top contenders advancing.
- Round 3 – Manual Match: Direct head-to-head battles determine who moves forward.
The first qualifier runs from January 30 to March 1, while the second takes place from March 27 to April 19. Players can also qualify via the eFootball League, with those finishing first in Division 1 during Phase 7 earning an automatic spot in the Regional Finals on May 24.
Prizes & Rewards
Competitive spirit aside, there are major incentives for participating in the eFootball Championship Open. The World Finals, held July 20-21 in Tokyo, will feature the best players from each category competing for a share of the prize pool:
