EA Messes Up Pick Odds Again in FC 24 Ultimate Team

It’s Messi Gate all over again.

The excitement was palpable with the release of the Ligue 1 Team of the Season (TOTS) in FC 24 Ultimate Team, featuring a stellar 97-rated Kylian Mbappé. Players were eager to score some of the highest-rated cards in-game, and indeed, some lucky ones hit the jackpot.

Those who ranked themselves at least VI in Ultimate Team Champions today could redeem at least one guarantee Ligue 1 TOTS Red Player Pick. But here’s the catch—EA dropped the ball on the odds, turning every pick into a selection of top-tier players from the current TOTS, including the likes of 97-rated Kylian Mbappé, 96-rated Ousmane Dembélé, and 95-rated Warren Zaire-Emery, alongside other 94 and 93-rated players.

This windfall was short-lived, as EA quickly fixed the odds a few hours later, which has led to considerable disappointment among players.

This has caused an uproar in the community, with many stating it’s unfair for those who were either away from their consoles or haven’t completed the number of matches to reach those specific rewards in FUT Champs.

This isn’t the first time EA has slipped up with pick rewards. A few months back, during the TOTY campaign, they offered a Player Pick SBC with a high chance of dropping a 97-rated TOTY Lionel Messi. Approximately 0.7% of Ultimate Team players secured a TOTY Messi item before EA adjusted the odds, sparking a community boycott.

This is just another in a series of errors, glitches and controversial decisions that have affected the game this year, undermining player trust. The only conclusion we can gather from all of this is that the developers are yet to learn from their mistakes and probably never will with the recent report of record earnings from live services like Ultimate Team.
