5 Forgotten OP FUT Players Who Are Still Playing Professional Football!

In every edition of FIFA/Football Ultimate Team (FUT), there’s always been some players who were considered as overpowered (OP). They were very popular back in the day, and left beautiful memories for many FUT players.

Most of them were also known for having amazing stats while still being affordable for most players to obtain. Unfortunately, they’re not in EA Sports FC 25 because the clubs they’re currently playing for, are not in the game.

Since they’re no longer in the game, many FUT players have forgotten about them. This article will take you on a trip down memory lane as we remember some forgotten OP players who are still playing professional football!

Dimitri Payet (Vasco da Gama)

West Ham United fans surely will remember Dimitri Payet for his time at the club. Payet was known as one of the most OP players in FUT 16, earning a spot in the Premier League Team of the Season after a monstrous season for the Hammers..

His Winter Wildcard item in FUT 23 was also memorable, notably for his dynamic image which saw him wearing a Santa Claus hat. However, his move to Vasco da Gama in the Brazilian league for the 2023/24 season meant he has not been available in the game since EA Sports FC 24.

David Luiz (Fortaleza)

The true definition of overpowered player, David Luiz was a mainstay in most of people’s squad in FUT 13 despite being only a 79-rated common gold card. His combination of pace and strength was the reason why he was one of the most used player that year.

The Brazillian was included in FUT 15 Team of the Year, as well as Team of the Season in FUT 16 and 17. He hasn’t appeared in Ultimate Team since FUT 21, after leaving Arsenal to join Flamengo. Now, David Luiz plays for Fortaleza in his home country.

Rodrigo Moreno (Al-Gharafa)

Back when pace was the most important stat in the game, Rodrigo Moreno was a popular choice in FUT 18. His 91 pace made him a go-to option for many players, despite being just a 78-rated rare gold card.

His amazing performance for Valencia in 2017/18 season, earned him a Team of the Season card in FUT 18. He then made a move to Leeds United, which get him some OP card like a 93-rated Season Rewards card in FUT 21 or a 90-rated FUT Fantasy card in FUT 20.

The Real Madrid academy graduate moved to the Qatari league at the start of the 2023/24 season to join Al-Rayyan, marking the end of his FUT appearances.. He’s currently plays for Al-Gharafa on loan from his parent club.

Yannick Bolasie (Cruzerio)

FIFA 15 was the first time Yannick Bolasie became very popular in the eyes of FUT players. His base 73-rated silver card was very overpowered, especially for players who love to utilize skill moves. He was also included in FUT 15 Premier League Team of the Season.

His last appearance in Ultimate Team was in FUT 21, which also saw him getting a FUT Freeze card. He then move to Brazillian league, and now plays for Cruzerio.

Adel Taarabt (Sharjah)

The Moroccan wizard was a very popular choice back in FUT 12. He was one of the few players who had 5-star skill moves and a 5-star weak foot, which made him very effective on the pitch, despite being only a 78-rated player.

His peak in Ultimate Team occurred in FUT 20, when he received a 92-rated TOTS card while playing for Benfica in the Portuguese league. He then moved to the Emirati league to join Al-Nasr and now plays for Sharjah FC.

However, he made a brief appearance in FUT 23 despite playing for a club that’s not in the game. He had a World Cup item because Morocco was one of the nations participating in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
