Konami has recently shared details about the upcoming 4.0.0 update for eFootball, which is set to be released in mid-September. This update marks the transition from eFootball 2024 to eFootball v4.0.0 and includes several significant changes.

No More Contracts: A Game-Changer for Dream Team
One of the most significant updates in eFootball is the removal of the contract system in Dream Team mode. Previously, players had to renew contracts to keep their favourite cards active, which could be a hassle, especially for those with large squads. With the 4.0.0 update, this system is being entirely scrapped.

Now, all cards can be used indefinitely, offering players more freedom and flexibility in how they build and manage their teams. Cards with expired contracts will be reactivated automatically, and those holding contract renewal items will receive compensation in the form of Chance Deals, giving them a shot at signing some of the game’s top Epic and Highlight players.
Stay Active or Be Deleted: Inactive Account Purge
Konami has also confirmed that accounts inactive for more than six months at the time of the 4.0.0 update will be deleted. This move is part of Konami’s effort to streamline the player base and ensure that only active players populate the game.

Renewed Partnership with the Argentine National Team
In a positive development, Konami has renewed its partnership with the Argentine Football Association until 2027. This means the reigning world and continental champions will continue to be fully licensed in eFootball for at least three more seasons.

Changes in Licensing
The 4.0.0 update will also bring changes to the licensing in eFootball. While the game will lose the official licenses for AS Roma, SSC Napoli, and AC Monza, Konami has secured exclusive licenses for two of Italy’s biggest clubs—AC Milan and Inter.
