The Fantasy FC campaign in EA Sports FC 25 is set to continue with the release of Team 2. EA Sports will most likely release the second batch of Fantasy FC player items on Friday (28/2) to replace Team 1 who will be out of packs.
This campaign has been a staple in the EAFC/FIFA franchise since FIFA 22, and this article will cover the history of the FUT Fantasy campaign over the years!
Previously named as What If
FIFA 21 was the first edition to feature upgradeable player item based on team team performance. However, the campaign was not called FUT Fantasy at the time but was instead known as ‘What If’.

The upgrade scenario was pretty simple compared to what we have now in EA Sports FC 25. Attackers and midfielders would receive an upgrade if their club scored at least six goals in their next five domestic league games, while defenders and goalkeepers would be upgraded if their club kept at least one clean sheet in the same period.
Jadon Sancho, N’Golo Kanté, and Martin Ødegaard were among the players included in the Team 1 release, while Richarlison and Dries Mertens were among the players who were part of Team 2.
Fantasy FUT in FIFA 22
Moving on to FIFA 22, EA Sports decided to change the name of the campaign to Fantasy FUT, a name it has retained until today. We also saw a massive change in the upgrade scenario, which featured three different upgrade scenarios.

A +1 OVR rating was awarded to players after making three appearances in their next five league games. Another +1 OVR was given if their team won at least one match during the same period. Finally an additional +1 OVR was granted if attackers or midfielders scored or assisted a goal, while defenders or goalkeepers kept a clean sheet within that timeframe.
Fantasy FUT in FIFA 23
The inclusion of FUT Heroes added a new dimension to the Fantasy FUT campaign in FIFA 23. For the first time in the franchise, FUT Heroes players were also eligible for upgrades based on their historical team’s performance.
The timeframe for the upgrade scenario was also changed from five league matches to six league matches.

Fantasy FUT Heroes players received a +1 OVR upgrade if their assigned club won at least one of their next six league matches. An additional +1 OVR and three new traits were also awarded if their club remained unbeaten during that six-game period.
For Fantasy FUT players, the upgrade path remained largely the same as in the previous game, with the only change being the number of goals, assists, or clean sheets required for an upgrade. However, an additional +1 OVR and three new traits were also awarded if their club remained unbeaten in the next six league matches.
Fantasy FC in EA Sports FC 24
Following the franchise’s rebranding from FIFA to EA Sports FC, the campaign name was also changed. Since EA Sports FC 24, it has been known as ‘Fantasy FC’.
Ferland Mendy, Ibrahima Konaté, and Timo Werner were some of the most remembered players from this campaign. Meanwhile for the FUT Heroes line-up, it was stacked with some historic players like Vincent Kompany and Carlos Tevez among the others.
