1. Keep your centre-backs in position – One of the biggest mistakes you can make when defending is pulling one of your centre-backs out of position. By doing so, you create space for your opponent to release dangerous passes and eventually score – something you don’t want them to be doing.
2. Run back with a midfielder – In order to ensure the centre-backs are intact, you need to run back with one of your midfielders. With the midfielder chasing the ball, all the defenders will be in position and it will be very difficult for the opponent to find their desired pass.
3. Use the jockey function – There is no way you’re going to defend properly in FC 24 without using L2 or LT button. When jockeying, the defender puts itself in a position where it corners the attacker and can easily intercept any pass. The good thing about using jockey is that you can defend superbly even at high speed.
4. Tackling and sliding should be your last option – How often do you see pros make a tackle or slide recklessly? Well, there is actually no need of making a risky challenge when you can just jockey. Use tackle or slide button as little as possible and if your find yourself in a position where you have to use one of them, ensure you time perfectly.
5. Second man press – The second man and second man press are back in FC 24. You need to press R1/RT and a green arrow will appear above the player,after which pressure will automatically be applied to the player with the ball. The best place to use second man press is in the midfield. Do not be tempted to apply it when inside or outside your box because it puts your players out of position quickly.

Also, if you play a pass, the direction of the pass should be the direction your player is facing.

1. Do not play too monotonously – There are two main ways to attack in FC 24 – through the centre and via the flanks. For you to be successful, employ both options on the pitch.
