Konami has officially renewed its partnership with Manchester United, continuing a collaboration that started in 2019. This extension means that Manchester United will remain prominently featured in Konami’s free-to-play football game, eFootball.
By renewing the deal, Konami retains its position as Manchester United’s “Official Football Video Game Partner.” This title grants Konami a variety of commercial rights, including player access, media content, and the use of official club branding. This means Manchester United’s likenesses, from player models to the iconic Old Trafford stadium, will continue to be faithfully recreated in eFootball for fans to enjoy.
With the new agreement, gamers can expect more Manchester United-focused content within eFootball. This includes special in-game events, challenges, and exclusive player cards featuring Manchester United stars.
To mark the renewal, Konami is launching several campaigns within eFootball that will make Manchester United fans particularly happy. From mid to late August, players will be able to unlock exclusive Manchester United content, including a ‘Highlight: Bruno Fernandes’ card and the chance to win legendary player cards such as Paul Scholes.
Additionally, Konami is offering one fan the chance to win two tickets to every Manchester United home game during the 2024-2025 season.
It’s important to highlight that this is a non-exclusive partnership, which means that the Red Devils can feature fully authentic in other games such as EA Sports FC 25. The same cannot be said about Inter and AC Milan for example, as they signed exclusive deals with the Japanese developer and will only be available in eFootball for the next couple of years.
Konami recently announced that they will be dropping the year from their eFootball titles and will move forward with just the eFootball name plus the release version. The 4.0.0 update is expected to drop in mid-September, 2024.
