The football gaming scene is ready to welcome its newest player. After 8 years of development, UFL is finally ready to be released to the public and compete with 2 football game giants, EA Sports FC and eFootball who dominated the football game industry for the last 2 decades.
Strikerz Inc. officially introduced UFL at Gamescom 2021, which drew enthusiasm from the football gaming world. Expectations then rose high after the Cyprus based company secured a £32 million investment from a group which Cristiano Ronaldo took part of.
With the release date just around the corner, there are some things that you should know before downloading it to your console. We’ll cover all of them in this article!
When will UFL be released?
UFL was initially planned to be released in 2023, but delayed to 2023. Strikerz Inc. CEO Eugene Nashilov then announced that the game is set to come on 12 September 2024. However just days before the planned release date, Strikerz Inc announced that the release of the game will be delayed once again to ensure the best experience for the players.
The official release date for UFL is set on 5 December 2024 and will be a free-to-play game. UFL also has a pre-order offer which includes exclusive in-game content and 7 day early access. It means that the people who’ve pre-ordered the game can play the game starting on 28 November 2024.
Where can I play UFL? Is it available on PC?
Strikerz Inc. announced that for the initial release date, UFL is only going to be released on current-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you still have the older generation of consoles like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, unfortunately the game won’t be available.
What about PCs? Eugene Nashilov said that the game will also be released on PC. However the release date for the PC version of the game is still unknown, and it will probably be released after the console versions hit the market. You can start to wishlist it on Steam, which will be the only platform to access the game on PC.
How about the license? Will there be authentic players in UFL?
Whether you like it or not, licenses play an important factor in the football gaming industry. Strikerz Inc. realizes it and they partner with FIFPro, the worldwide representative organizations for professional footballers to bring more than 5,000 licensed real-world players to have their names and likenesses to the game.
One of the biggest is one of the investors, Cristiano Ronaldo who will be the main ambassador for UFL. The Al-Nassr forward will be joined by other football stars like Kevin De Bruyne, Roberto Firmino, Romelu Lukaku, and Oleksandr Zinchenko as ambassadors.
Not only able to secure licenses for players, Strikerz Inc. also strikes a partnership with some of the most well-known teams across Europe. The London based team West Ham United and the German giant Borussia Mönchengladbach are among the teams that have already announced their partnership with UFL.
They will be joined Celtic, Rangers, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting CP, Monaco, Besiktas, Haverfordwest County, and Aris FC as club partners. UFL is also the main sponsor of Hashtag United FC, a semi-professional football team founded by a former FIFA YouTuber Spencer Owen.
