Konami has rolled out the latest eFootball update v4.2.0, introducing a mix of exciting features, quality-of-life improvements, and a much-anticipated collaboration with the iconic football manga series Captain Tsubasa. Here’s everything you need to know about the update.

Key Additions and Changes

  • Revamped Objectives: The objectives system has been reworked for easier navigation.
  • In-Match Roles Logic Update: Aptness values in the Game Plan now account for Boosters, Position Proficiency, and the Manager’s Team Playstyle Proficiency.
  • GP Shop: Players can now exchange accumulated GP for items like Skill Training Programs, Position Trainers, and Random Booster Tokens, addressing long-standing community requests.
  • eFootball Points Notification: A new feature alerts users when their eFootball Points are close to expiration (less than a week left).

For users in Japan, eFootball Coins acquired after this update will no longer have a validity period. However, coins obtained before the update retain their expiration dates.

Visual and Audio Updates

  • Team data, player photos, graphics, and club emblems have been updated.
  • 195 Faces Added.
  • 477 Faces Deleted.
  • New commentary updates, music tracks, and stadium cinematics have been added.
  • Turkish commentary language support is now available.

Collaboration with Captain Tsubasa

This update marks the launch of an exciting partnership with the legendary manga series Captain Tsubasa. The collaboration runs from December 5 to December 26, 2024, with more events planned for the future.

  • Special Cards:
    • Unique illustrations of Lionel Messi and Takefusa Kubo.
    • Cross-over cards featuring combinations like Hikaru Matsuyama x Joshua Kimmich and Ryo Ishizaki x Dayot Upamecano.
  • In-Game Events:
    • Time Attack Event: Players control Captain Tsubasa characters like Tsubasa Oozora and Taro Misaki in a race against time. Completing stages unlocks artwork pieces that can be displayed in the new Gallery feature.
    • Daily Bonus Event: Score penalty kicks as anime characters to earn in-game rewards.
    • A total of 10 Captain Tsubasa characters are available during the event, including fan-favorites Kojiro Hyuga and Genzo Wakabayashi.
  • Rewards and Collectibles:

New Stadiums for Mobile Players

Mobile players can now enjoy matches in five iconic stadiums:

  • Manager Updates: Frank Lampard joins as a Chelsea-era manager with unique tactical proficiencies.
  • Celebrations: New player celebrations have been added, including updates for Viktor Gyökeres and Lamine Yamal.

Bug Fixes

Several bugs have been addressed in this update, including:

  • Fixing issues with players not appearing under specific sorting options.
  • Resolving a bug that allowed shooting commands during free kicks in a team’s own half.

Other Notes

  • Data related to the AFC Asian Cup has been removed, with affected teams now using original eFootball designs.
  • Licenses and team visuals have been updated across the board.
