The next eFootball update is just around the corner, set to launch on September 12th. While it doesn’t introduce any groundbreaking changes, it does offer some modest improvements aimed at enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
Offline Mode Gets a Makeover
One of the biggest changes is the renaming of “Trial Match” to “Exhibition” in offline mode. This isn’t just a name change, you’ll now have access to all the clubs and national teams in the game. Plus, you can customize match settings like difficulty and match length, giving you more control over how you want to play.
Weather Comes to Mobile
For mobile players, two new weather conditions, Rain and Snow are being added. These new elements add a bit of unpredictability and make the game feel more immersive. You’ll be able to experience these in modes like My League, Exhibition, and even in matches with friends. It’s going to be a cool addition, especially for those who like a challenge.
“Smart Assist” Control Mode
A trial version of a new “Smart Assist” control type is also rolling out. This feature helps automate things like shot power and dribbling direction, making it a great tool for players who are still getting the hang of the game. It’s designed to make things easier without taking away the challenge for more experienced players.
Messi and Neymar Take the Spotlight
Konami is also launching two special Ambassador Editions featuring Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. These editions come in both Standard and Deluxe versions and include some sweet perks like Highlight Players and training items.

In addition to the Messi and Neymar Jr. 2025 editions, Konami has a couple of special campaigns lined up, offering exclusive in-game content for both ambassadors
Old Features, New Twists
In terms of gameplay, Konami is bringing back the fan-favorite Finesse Dribble mechanic, which hasn’t been around since PES 2021. This updated version is set to reignite the tactical duels between attackers and defenders, especially when you’ve got players like Maradona or Ronaldinho on your team.
The new #eFootball update will also bring two new gameplay features 🔥

Another change is to the Physical Contact Stat, which now gives players with higher ratings a bigger edge in physical battles. This tweak is meant to slow the game down a bit and bring back the realism fans loved in earlier versions of the game.
New Commentary for Turkish Players
For the first time, Turkish fans will now get localized commentary with the voices of Gökhan Abdik and Müjdat Muratoğlu, adding a more immersive experience for those playing in Turkish. While it’s a nice addition for the regional audience, it’s largely a quality-of-life update.
Referees Visible during Gameplay
Thanks to a recent showcase of the new update in Turkey, referees were noticed during the gameplay of the mobile version of eFootball. While this is not a massive addition, it does help with realism, something that the game has been lacking since the switch to the new branding.

Exclusive Partnerships with Top Clubs
On a more exciting note, Konami has managed to secure exclusive partnerships with AC Milan and Inter, two of Italy’s biggest clubs. On top of that, they’ve renewed their partnership with Manchester United, which is a big win in terms of keeping top-tier teams in the game and managed to sign a new deal with Brazilian giants, Palmeiras.
Small Steps, But More is Needed
While the 4.0.0 update brings a few interesting features and improvements, it’s clear that many players are still waiting for more substantial changes. The return of fan-favorite mechanics like Finesse Dribble and improvements to Physical Contact are welcome, but not game-changing for most. The new “Smart Assist” mode may help newer players get started, but long-time fans are likely to see it as more of a minor addition.
The community has generally reacted to the news with a mix of cautious optimism and indifference, feeling that these updates don’t quite push the game forward in a meaningful way. Many are still eagerly awaiting the return of the much-loved Master League, a mode that has yet to make its comeback but remains a top request from the player base.
Overall, this update adds a few interesting elements, but there’s still a sense that Konami has more work to do in order to satisfy its loyal players. The exclusive club partnerships with AC Milan, Inter, and Manchester United, however, give hope that the game is building a solid foundation for future updates and expansions.
